We Love Kids!

Thank you for trusting us with your children. We strive to make Calvary Chapel Southeast safe and nurturing place for young hearts to grow and learn about God's love. Our desire is to see your children grow in their knowledge of God and their relationship with Jesus.

Our Philosophy

We recognize that the responsibility of Christian Education belongs to parents. (Dt 6:5-9, Pv 22:6, Eph 6:4.)
Thus, our main objective is to give support to parents by providing their children with:

  • An environment that is loving, safe and conducive to learning.
  • Teachers who genuinely care about their spiritual development.
  • Teachers who are trained to deliver Biblical, age-appropriate lessons.
  • Lessons that teach foundational truths for those just beginning to know God.
  • Lessons that challenge and help build-up the faith of those who do believe.

Ministry Leadership

We believe in servant-leadership. Teachers, classroom helpers, and club leaders are to serve in the best interests of the children. In turn, the Children's Ministry Leadership Team exists to serve and equip the teachers with the tools and support that they need to succeed in the classroom. Karla Jones serves as the Children's Ministry Director, overseeing all aspects of the Ministry.

If you have any questions or concerns about our Children's Ministry, please let us know.

Child Safety Measures

Keeping your child safe is a priority throughout our Children's Ministry. We have tthe following procedures in place for the protection of your child:

Volunteer Screening & Qualifications

1) All adult children's ministry workers and ushers must pass a thorough screening process.
  • Background checks are run on all applicants. No one with a criminal offense against a child is allowed to serve in the ministry.
  • Applicants must provide 2 references and each of these are checked out.
2) Applicants must have been in regular attendance at CCSE for the past 6 months, or come with children's ministry experience and a pastor's recommendation from another church of sound doctrine.

3) Volunteers must agree to CCSE's Statment of Faith, and while serving in the Children's Ministry, must attend weekly CCSE church services and submit to CCSE church leadership.

4) Applicants and ongoing volunteers must live lives that demonstrate their devotion to Christ and understanding of foundational Biblical truths.

Volunteer Training

Once approved for service in the Children's Ministry, our volunteers are given training in:

Check-in / Check-out Procedures
Only the parent or guardian who brings the child may pick-up the child after service, unless we are notified otherwise when the child is checked-in to his or her classroom.  In addition, Wee Lambs Nursery gives parents numbered bracelets that they must turn in to claim their child from the nursery.

CCSE's "Two Adults Rule"
An adult is never allowed to be alone in a room with one child.  We have policies in place for safe handling of diaper changes and restroom breaks for small children needing assistance.

Child Abuse Prevention
Volunteers are given information on how to detect and prevent child abuse, including but not limited to: physical, sexual, and emotional abuse and neglect. All our adult volunteers are empowered and encouraged to report any suspicious observations.

Children's Ministry Ushers
Ushers assigned to the hallways in the children's area undergo additional training for handling various situations, such as being alert outside the children's restrooms when a child is in there, watching for unauthorized persons entering the children's area, and assisting with classroom emergencies etc.

Please Help Us Keep Your Kids Safe!

It is your responsibility to supervise your children when they are not checked into a classroom.  Please keep an eye on your kids before and after service and make sure that they do not "run wild" throughout the church building or in the parking lots.  Thank you!

Church is a
"Wildlife Free Zone!"

Child Wellness Policy

To prevent the spread of sickness to others, please do not bring your child to church if her or she has any of these symptoms:
  • Colored runny nose (non-clear)
  • Severe Cough
  • Fever
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Chicken Pox
  • Measles
  • Head Lice
  • Anything that is contagious!
If your child becomes ill during service, we will remove him or her from class and notify you.

Emergency Procedures

Life-Threatening Situations

In the event that your child is seriously injured, is having seizures, or is in a life-threatening situation, our policy is to first call 911, then our Service Coordinator and/or Ushers will try to locate you in the sanctuary ASAP.

In Case of Fire

For everyone's safety, in the event of a building evacuation: GO DIRECTLY OUTSIDE.

Please DO NOT go to the Children's Classrooms or the Nursery to retrieve your children.

A plan is in place for the Children's Ministry leadership, volunteers and ushers to quickly evacuate all the babies and children.  Child safety could be jeapoardized if, during an evacuation, adults enter the children's areas, as children could be trampled under the mass of people and/or lost in the confusion as we are trying to get them out of the building safely. In addition, the FIRE DOOR that separates the children's classroom hallway from the sanctuary hallway MUST REMAIN CLOSED.

Once outside, you may meet your child in the Children's Ministry's designated meeting area:
  • If it is a minor fire (i.e. smoke and fire are limited to a small area and not in the children's area): we will meet in the upper church parking lot on the southwest end of the building.

  • If it is a major fire (i.e. a large portion of the church is in flames) we will move the children out of harms way and down to Bob's Red Mill parking lot .
Upon evacuation, teachers will take the class roster/ sign-in sheet outside along with the children. Once outside, you are welcome to pick-up your child. If you do, please SIGN OUT on the class roster, otherwise if your child is suddenly missing, teachers may think he or she is in the building and unnecessarily put firemen's lives in harms way.
